Smoothies are among those foods that can be made to suit any kind of diet, including low carb diets, such as keto! They are perfect for breakfast although you can also have them for snacks, too. This low carb, keto green smoothie from the Keto King is absolutely fast and easy to prepare.
It’s the perfect breakfast recipe for busy individuals who are in need of an on-the-go breakfast meal that they can take to work. This smoothie is loaded with nutrients that will keep you full all morning long, while giving you that much needed energy to keep up with the demands at work.
Green smoothies help to keep you alkaline so are great to have on the Keto-Alkaline diet. I suggest that you use organic strawberries if you can because conventionally grown strawberries are top of EWG’s dirty dozen list. Shockingly one of the samples they took contained an astounding 22 pesticide residues!
Likewise it’s better for your health if you can use organic spinach too as EWG found that 97% of conventionally grown spinach samples contained pesticide residues. Pesticides get stored in your body when the detox system is overloaded with all the toxins that get into you from water, food, air and products you use on your body.
When you start to lose fat on a low carb or keto diet you will also release some chemicals that have been stored in the cells. Green smoothies can help to get them out of your body but it’s best to try and avoid putting more chemicals in.
Do please also use filtered water and not tap water which is not good for your health. While water companies say the water is safe to drink Dr Mercola states:
research conducted by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) revealed hundreds of contaminants coming out of the average U.S. faucet, many at levels above what may cause health risks but below the threshold of legal action
So, if you really want to improve your health and stay healthy drink filtered water. I will go more into this in a future blog post.
