And while it did work for some, there are those who find it ineffective, which is why they turned to the Dubrow Diet.
It’s rumored that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, better known as Kate Middleton, used that Dubrow diet to lose weight before her marriage to Prince William. She is said to have followed the diet to lose her baby weight after her three pregnancies.
In this article we will take a look at what is the Dubrow Diet and how is it different from the typical intermittent fasting? Read on to find out.
What Is the Dubrow Diet?
The Dubrow Diet was developed by celebrity couple Heather Dubrow, who starred in the Real Housewives of Orange County, and Dr. Terry Dubrow, who is a prominent plastic surgeon and appeared in the TV show Botched.
Together, they created an intermittent fasting plan that trains the body into burning fats by targeting the metabolism.
You don’t have to count macronutrients on The Dubrow Diet which is why it’s different than the Keto Diet. It’s a simple intermittent fasting plan that focuses mainly on these three aspects of eating:
- When to eat?
- What to eat?
- How much to eat?
Allison Webster, a registered dietitian and associate director of nutrition communications at the International Food Information Council Foundation, has stated that,
The Dubrow Diet sets boundaries on when to eat and when not to eat.
Aside from helping you to lose weight, the Dubrow Diet Plan also promises to make you feel ageless. It activates your body cells’ anti-aging ability through a process known as autophagy.
As a matter of fact, the celebrity couple claims that the long-term effects of autophagy are similar to that of plastic surgery, except that it doesn’t come with any downtime. They insinuate that such process plays a role in how they maintain their own youthful looks.

Three Phases of the Dubrow Diet Plan
To better understand how the Dubrow Diet works let’s take a look at the three different phases involved in this diet plan:
Red Carpet Ready
The first phase must be done for 2 to 5 days. This requires you to fast for 16 hours. This could be done by only eating from noon to 8 pm For the remaining 8 hours, you have to refuel with low GI foods. These include non-starchy veggies and lean proteins, as well as a small amount of healthy fats and fruits. Alcohol must be avoided at this stage.
Summer Is Coming
You’ll follow the second phase until such time that you reach your ideal weight. During this phase, you can add more complex carbs and healthy fats to your meals. You’re now allowed to indulge in a small amount of alcohol.
There are varying levels of refueling windows that you can follow at this phase – slow, medium, or fast track. You will usually have an eating window of 8 – 12 hours at this stage.
Look Hot While Living Like a Human
After you have completed the first two phases of your diet, you should have already achieved your ideal weight. Therefore the third phase will all be about maintaining your weight.
In this phase, you’ll be fasting for 12 hours for five days in a week and 16 hours for the other two days.
Is the Dubrow Diet Better than Keto?
When asked what is the Dubrow Diet, Heather Dubrow explained on her book, The Dubrow Diet, that it’s a combination of intermittent fasting and keto, except that the Dubrow diet is more sustainable for the long-term. But is the Dubrow Diet really better than keto?
Scientific researches made on intermittent fasting have led to mixed results. A 2015 study found that there’s limited evidence that suggests if time-restricted fasting really works.
The International Society of Sports Nutrition has noted that there is not any conclusive evidence that suggests intermittent fasting is a more effective approach to losing weight compared to diets that require cutting calories.
Most of the health benefits that were seen from intermittent fasting are due to eating at a certain time range, and not necessarily due to reduced calories, which is why the Dubrow Diet may not work for the long-term.
While it does work for some, this type of dietary plan may be difficult if you need to eat every few hours. Also, it’s not suitable for those with conditions that require regular food intervals due to their medications, such as those with diabetes. In this case, the ketogenic diet or other low carb diets might be a better option.
It’s also worth noting that prolonged starvation could put one at risk for overeating, which is what usually happens during the “refueling phase” of the intermittent fasting.>With the keto diet, most of your diet comes from fats. Since fats are extremely filling, you’ll feel full after every meal and overeating can be prevented.
The Dubrow Keto Fusion Diet
If you have been following the keto diet but find it too restrictive then the Dubrow Keto Fusion Diet may be for you.
According People Terry calls keto “kind of a dumb diet”. The Dubrows wanted to make a new plan for followers of the keto diet that would be easier to maintain and they have come up with The Dubrow Keto Fusion Diet.
The new diet book which is to be released in March 2020 but can be pre-ordered here.
draws on the best parts of keto and interval eating to provide the simple secrets to weight loss success—backed up by their scientifically-proven results and 12:8:4 eating schedule.
While the diet plan includes intermittent fasting, which has been shown to aid weight loss there’s not yet any scientific research done on the diet itself to prove if it’s really effective.
As with all diets there are some who praise it while others others criticize it for being unoriginal and too low in calories
It seems that the diet is just a recycled version of the intermittent fasting but with a focus more on physical appearance that overall health.
Unless you’re able to permanently follow this kind of eating pattern while still enjoying life, it may not really worth it.
As always, it is very important to choose the type of diet that can work best for your lifestyle. Before you start with any diet plan, it is best to consult with a nutritionist, dietitian or medical professional that can recommend the most appropriate eating plan for you.
